ISOMA 2025
Unite for Knowledge, Act for Peace
The International Symposium of Military Academies (ISOMA 2025), hosted by the Kosovo Defense Academy, brought together leaders, scholars, instructors, and cadets from military academies across the world under the theme “Unite for Knowledge, Act for Peace.” Held in Prishtina, Kosovo, from 11–13 November 2025, this landmark edition of ISOMA showcased innovative educational practices, collaborative research, and strategic perspectives shaping the future of military education and international security.

Guided by the moto “Unite for Knowledge, Act for Peace,” ISOMA 2025 featured a dynamic program of expert panels, academic presentations, and international dialogue. The opening ceremony included keynote addresses by BG Jeton Dreshaj, MG Hyung-Ki So, Superintendent of the Korea Military Academy, and Dr. Ian Parenteau, Secretary of IAMA, each highlighting the importance of global cooperation in shaping future military leaders.
Under its theme, “Adapting Military Education for 21st Century Challenges: Innovations in Teaching and Learning for Global Security,” ISOMA 2025 explored the evolving demands of modern military education. Participants examined new pedagogical approaches, the integration of emerging technologies, the role of international cooperation, and the implications of shifting global security dynamics. The agenda also included an IAMA meeting, a wargaming activity, and extensive opportunities for institutional engagement and partnership building.
ISOMA 2025 also marked significant contributions to academic scholarship, including a Special Issue of the Journal of Peace, Conflict, and Security Studies and the publication of the Conference Proceedings, ensuring that knowledge shared during the symposium continues to benefit the broader military education community.
A defining feature of the symposium was the strong cadet participation, with future officers from multiple partner academies presenting research and exchanging perspectives on leadership development and the evolving demands of military service. Their contributions underscored ISOMA’s commitment to empowering the next generation of military professionals.
Complemented by cultural visits and activities showcasing Kosovo’s heritage and hospitality, ISOMA 2025 strengthened professional relationships and deepened cooperation among member academies. The symposium concluded with closing remarks and certificate presentations at the Kosovo Defense Academy.
ISOMA 2025 reaffirmed the value of international collaboration in advancing military education and preparing officers for an increasingly complex security environment.
